Palm Beach County Exceeds Expectations with Palm Healthcare Foundation’s

 Let’s Move! Challenge

Foundation doubles the number of teams participating in 2017

WHAT: Thousands of Palm Beach County residents participated in Palm Healthcare Foundation Inc.’s fifth annual Let’s Move: Commit to Change Physical Activity Challenge, which ran from March 1 - March 31, 2017. The foundation partnered with PNC Bank, Tenet Health, CBS12, ESPN Radio and local healthcare, business, city, youth and community leaders to host the initiative, which inspired county residents to complete and log 30 minutes of physical activity every day during the month of March. Events were held across Palm Beach County, focusing on physical activity, nutrition and healthy behaviors. Participants logged 7 million minutes in the challenge.

WHY:

  • 63% of Floridians are overweight or obese
  • 6:10 children born today will be obese by the time they graduate high school
  • Exercise is key to improving overall health and preventing diseases like diabetes

“Gold Medal Champions.” The City of Delray Beach and the City of Boynton Beach each logged more than 1,000,000 minutes of physical activity.
