West Palm Beach, FL - Palm Healthcare Foundation (PHF) recently announced that it has awarded $37,400 to Wayside House for its Well Woman Program. Wayside House is a non-profit substance abuse treatment program for women and their families in Delray Beach. Most women entering Wayside House have no financial resources and no health insurance.
"We are proud to support Wayside House for its commitment to addressing the medical needs as part of the treatment plan for women in early stages of recovery," said Jan Rodusky, director of grant programs for PHF. "This program provides access to healthcare that was previously not available."
The Well Woman Program is a comprehensive set of services designed to help women access medical and psychiatric care in the early stages of recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Many women enter the program at Wayside House with long ignored medical and psychiatric problems. If left untreated, these issues can lead back into the cycle of addiction. The Well Woman Program, through the support of PHF, assists these women in accessing community health services, thus increasing the chances of success in their treatment program.
Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. is an independent community healthcare foundation dedicated to the good health of Palm Beach County. The foundation concentrates its funding on programs that improve access to healthcare and advance nursing practice and education.
