Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. Announces Annual Thank a Nurse Campaign

West Palm Beach, FL - Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc. has announced the launch of its fifth annual Thank a Nurse campaign, a series of activities designed to recognize the tireless efforts of Palm Beach County’s nurses.  The 2018 Thank a Nurse campaign will include two events and a multi-media and social media campaign saluting Palm Beach County’s nurses.  Thank a Nurse is generously sponsored by Tenet Health and VITAS Healthcare and coincides with National Nurses Week, May 6-12.

Thursday, May 3, 5-8 pm:  Area nurses are invited to celebrate National Nurses Week at a free “Nurses Night Out” event in collaboration with Alpha Media to be held Thursday, May 3rd at Downtown at The Gardens in Palm Beach Gardens.  The event will include on-air radio personalities, games, giveaways, music, food and raffle prizes.

Thursday, May 10, from 6-8 pm: The fifth annual Heart of Gold Reception: A Celebration Honoring Palm Beach County’s Nurses will be held at the Kravis Center Cohen Pavilion in West Palm Beach.  The event will honor the extraordinary work of local nurses and recognize Palm Beach County’s 2018 “Nurses of the Year.” Heart of Gold event sponsors include Trustbridge; Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations; Christine E. Lynn, E.M. Lynn Foundation; Lynda Harris Home Health Care RN; Manor Care and Palm Beach Atlantic University.  The event will include a photo booth, open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres and music.

Christine E. Lynn, a local philanthropist and a nurse by profession, has generously underwritten through her E.M. Lynn Foundation, a portion of the ticket price to Heart of Gold so that an increased number of nurses and their colleagues will be able to attend.  The cost of a ticket is $35.00.

The Breakers Palm Beach has generously supported Palm Healthcare Foundation’s nurse honorees for more than a decade. This year they have donated Sunday Brunch for Two to all of the nurses who will be recognized in the formal awards presentation.

Over the past 16 years, Palm Healthcare Foundation has donated more than $10 million to nursing initiatives designed to advance the field of nursing. This funding seeks to ensure that Palm Beach County has a highly skilled nursing workforce that provides care across all settings and supports optimal health in the community including care transitions and care coordination.  More than $1 million in nursing scholarships has been granted to more than 1,000 nursing students for advanced education – so that Palm Beach County residents will have quality nursing care when they most need it.

“At some point in our lives, we will all need the care of a nurse.  Palm Healthcare Foundation is delighted to shine a light on the exceptional stories of some of the most dedicated nurses in Palm Beach County. We hope you will take a few moments during National Nurse’s Week (May 6-12) to express your gratitude to a special nurse in your life,” said Pat McNamara, President and CEO of Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc.
